Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris, born on the 20th of October, 1964, is a prominent American politician and lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female to be elected vice president, and also holds the title of highest-ranking female officer in American history. Harris is a member of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. In addition she served as a United States senator representing California between 2017 and 2021. Harris was born and raised in Oakland, California. After starting her career as an Alameda County District Attorney, Harris was recruited to San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Then she was appointed the City Attorney of San Francisco. The office was named San Francisco district attorney in 2003. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in 2010 and reelected in 2014. Harris was the junior member of the United States Senate from California from 2017 to 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate election to become the second African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. As a senator, Harris advocated for health care, federal de-scheduling and legalization of cannabis, a path to citizenship of undocumented immigrants, as well as the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. She is well-known for her direct questioning of Trump government officials during Senate hearings.
